The Immigrant Writers Association (IWA)’s mission is to encourage immigrants to express themselves through writing, to bring more awareness, compassion, and peace into the world.
IWA is seeking individuals from across Canada to serve on our Board of Directors. Successful applicants will support our mission in providing programs, activities, and services that empower and support immigrant writers in their journeys.
We are looking for nominees who are passionate about writing and bring knowledge and/or skills in one or more areas of Board governance and leadership: strategic planning, fiscal oversight, collaborative partnerships, marketing, fundraising, community outreach and engagement, advocacy, human resources, policy, law, IT.
Board members are elected to a two-year term, for a maximum of three terms, and are expected:
• to participate in Board meetings (virtual attendance is acceptable)
• to participate in at least one Board committee (minimum of four meetings a year), and
• to engage in generating revenue (from fundraising, sponsorships, memberships, and services) on behalf of the organization.
