IWA’s Annual General Meeting & Book Launch

Join us for a celebration of immigrant voices!
You’re invited to attend the IWA’s Annual General Meeting and the unveiling of our 2024 anthology written by members: Old Roots, New Shoots.
This captivating collection of stories, poems, and essays explores the profound journey of immigration, capturing the challenges, triumphs, and transformative experiences of individuals who have uprooted their lives and found new beginnings in Canada.

Sharing Stories Program for Newcomers & Immigrant Seniors

The Immigrant Writers Association (IWA) has been recognized by the Government of Canada for its outstanding Sharing Stories Program for Newcomers and Immigrant Seniors.
This innovative project aims to connect newcomers, first and second-generation immigrant seniors through a stimulating book club. Facilitated by experienced seniors and volunteers, the book club will encourage storytelling, cultural exchange, and mental well-being.
Running from July 2024 to March 2025, the program features an online group and in-person group sessions, fostering community, enhancing language skills, and reducing social isolation among participants. This initiative aligns with the national priorities by promoting healthy ageing, diversity, and inclusion, benefiting newcomers and seniors and strengthening community ties.
