The Immigrant Writers Association (IWA) is a Canadian non-profit organization that publishes an annual anthology written by its members (Canadian immigrants). The title of IWA’s 2022 anthology will be Finding The Way. We have eleven contributors so far and we would welcome a Ukrainian refugee or permanent resident in Canada to join as a co-author for this anthology project.

A) What can IWA offer?
- The selected writer will receive a Class A membership with IWA for one year (value $100) with all its benefits
- IWA will cover the editing fee* for your chapter (value $100-$200 depending on various factors, including chapter’s length)
- Opportunity to have your chapter included in IWA’s 2022 anthology Finding The Way and additional visibility throughout the year
*Usually the chapter’s editing fee is covered by the anthology contributor.
B) What we are looking for
- Ukrainian (aspiring) writer – refugee or permanent resident who immigrated to Canada in 2019 or later – who is interested in joining IWA as a member and write a chapter of 2000-5000 words for the anthology Finding The Way
- Fiction, nonfiction, or poetry that reflects the writer’s point of view on what the term Finding The Way means to him/her/them as a refugee or immigrant in Canada
- Acceptance of the Co-Author IWA agreement by March 24, 2022. Read more about the agreement here.
- Thoughtful writing that embodies positive values such as hope, resilience, and compassion, in line with IWA’s mission.

- Full name, email address, city/province, date when you arrived in Canada
- A sample of your writing in English (up to 400 words)
- Your website/blog/social media profiles
D) Next steps
- You will receive an email from us by March 20, 2022 to let you know if you were selected
- If yes, details about the next steps (agreement signing, deadline to send us your chapter for IWA’s anthology, etc.).
