On behalf of the Immigrant Writers of Association (IWA), we are delighted to extend an invitation to you to join
our Board of Directors in a volunteer capacity.

What We Do
The Immigrant Writers Association (IWA) / Association des écrivains immigrants (AEI) is an incorporated non-profit organization that provides programs, activities, and services that empower and support immigrant writers on their journeys.

Our Mission:
To encourage Canadian immigrants to express themselves more through writing, to bring more awareness, compassion, and peace into the world.

IWA is committed to amplifying the diverse voices of immigrants in Canada. As a board member, your
contributions will play a vital role in furthering our mission and helping us foster a platform for immigrant
writers to share their thoughts, stories and experiences.

We are looking for who resonate with our mission, and have expertise in one or more of the following fields: publication, editing, accounting, IT, grant writing, membership management, public relations, digital marketing, or event management.

You can be a tremendous asset to the board in helping IWA empower immigrant voices and reach a much broader audience.

  • Your expertise in membership management and e-newsletters will help IWA’s processes and keep members engaged.
  • Your accounting skills will aid in ensuring our financial stability and transparency, while your publication and editing background will help maintain the quality of our publications and resources.
  • Your expertise in public relations and digital marketing will assist in building strong connections within the literary community and help us reach a wider audience.
  • Your expertise in IT will help IWA’s operations run smoothly and improve IWA website
  • Your experience in event management will be invaluable in organizing literary events and workshops that bring immigrant writers and their works into the spotlight.
  • Additionally, your grant writing skills will be pivotal in securing funding to support IWA’s initiatives and operations to ensure our organization’s sustainability and growth.

To be eligible for this role, we would prefer that you are a published author in Canada or your country of origin, or you have writing experience. While most of our business operations are conducted in English, we value and celebrate the linguistic diversity of our members.

By joining the IWA Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of immigrant voices in Canada and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse literary landscape.

We look forward to your positive response to this invitation.
