Position: Graphic Design Volunteer

Description: Immigrant Writing Association (IWA) seeks dynamic, enthusiastic, creative individuals, who are new graduates and self-starters to assist with graphic designing for the organization. The Graphic Designer will re-design graphics for the existing website and will create the graphics for print, social media, and event marketing, and organize/maintain design files. Work closely with the web developer to maintain a consistent IWA brand appeal and presence. This is an excellent opportunity for those who are interested in applying and enhancing graphic design skills.

Hours: Attendance at a 45min orientation/training session is required. Duration for the Minimum 6-month commitment, 1-2h per week, Flexible schedule based on deliverables.

Compensation: Unpaid volunteer position

Responsibilities:

Designing flyers, graphics, content, and other marketing material for major events hosted by IWA as well as the IWA website

Update the IWA website when needed

Organize and attend monthly marketing committee meetings including preparing agenda and taking minutes

Collaborating with committee members/staff on new ideas, and directions, and contributing to venues for marketing and communications

Qualifications:

Proficient use of Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop.

Good organizational and communication skills, and be a team player. Previous professional design education is not required, however, is an asset.
