PRESS RELEASE

Canadian immigrants share personal and fictional stories of courage and hope in a new anthology written during the COVID-19 pandemic.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TORONTO, December 10, 2020

Grow Together, an anthology of fiction and personal essays by Canadian immigrants, is launching on December 18, 2020. The timing could not be more appropriate for an anthology of inspiration, malleability, and resourcefulness.

Published by the Immigrant Writers Association (IWA/AEI) – a not-for-profit organization that provides programs, activities, and services that empower and support immigrant writers in their journeys – the anthology is already available on Amazon.

The fifteen co-authors featured in the book reflect the fabric of Canada in their diversity. With roots in South Africa, Romania, Russia, RD-Congo, Cameroon, Senegal, Somalia, India, Mexico, and Jamaica, each of these writers experience immigration in their unique way. Assertive thought leaders, they emerge resilient and ready to inspire others!

From coming-of-age stories … to futuristic tales of a decimated Ontarian landscape; from tips on how to make the most of mentors … to a life-changing discussion on when to wear a hijab; from a town that comes together when a small boy saves a cat … to an introvert’s insights on the pandemic signals for personal and systemic growth, these stories resonate with the same frequency: how best to adjust to a new life.

Grow Together is IWA’s second anthology written by its members. The first one, Building Bridges, is also available through Amazon.

The event will start with IWA’s third Annual General Meeting (6:30 – 7:00 pm), followed by the book launch (7:00 – 8:00 pm): https://iwa2020anthology.eventbrite.ca
